Out Of Town: The Remixes

A 11 track deep house album (2h 14m 16s) — released September 19th 2011 on Leng Records

Leng Records follows up last years 'Out of Town' album with a stunning selection of remixes and re-works of tracks taken from Cantoma's second long player which was widely regarded as his strongest work to date. 'Out Of Town' fused a wide variety of sounds and styles resulting in a beautiful, otherworldly album that moved effortlessly between blissful flamenco, shimmering, slo-mo nu disco, dubbed-out tango and haunting, ethereal soundscapes. The remixers were hand picked by Cantoma aka Phil Mison due to their unique approach to music and their complementary production styles and the result is an album bursting with downtempo and dancefloor led remixes. The album opens with Claremont 56 head honcho Mudd's take on 'Paloma', layering the soundscapes with extra bass and keyboards moving to a more funk led groove. Loft party co-host, Cosmo takes 'Dix Vertes' to the dub end and turns out a truly stunning mix perfect for a cocktail on the beach. Phil Mison's Reverso 68 production accomplice Pete Herbert gets straight to the point with his techy take on 'Gambarra' taking the flamenco guitars into dubbed out dancefloor territory. Label favourites the Idjut Boys turn out another genre defying mix of 'North Shore' that sucks you into an almost trance-like state and is purely made for the late night hours on a sweaty dancefloor. Norway's Blackbelt Andersen's remix of 'Only People' follows up his amazing recent releases on Prins Thomas's Full Pupp label with a peak time monster aimed straight for the dancefloor. Japan's favourite Max Essa takes us straight into the summer time feeling with an uplifting mix of 'North Shore' that is perfect for putting a smile on your face and getting those legs moving. Ray Mang's remix of 'Under The Stars' is a subtle Balearic-disco groove, with a sweet rolling bass and a languid horn line that gently eases into the back of your mind, luring you into a hypnotic swirl. Lexx steps up to deliver an equally stunning take on 'Gambarra' immediately setting out a more electronic lilt. The track steadily builds into a mid tempo throb as the Brazilian vocals wash over proceedings, while flute and acoustic guitar make way for each other in the melody. Tiago, the 12 year resident of Portugal's highly regarded Lux club, completes the remix package going completely against the grain for his remix of 'Viusu' laying down a slow, electronic hypnotic builder with almost kraut rock type qualities.
